Our approach stresses inspiration, motivation, and education. We believe that a woman can have it all without having to be out of the home 5 days/week. We provide viable and legitimate options and create opportunities to empower her in the development and advancement of her professional, business and family life! Through MOMpowered, we wish to weave wisdom, warmth and wellness into a woman's everyday life. We want to inspire her to achieve her full potential and to realize her dream of caring for her family on her own terms. This is why children are ALWAYS welcomed at ALL MOMpowered activities and childcare is provided when necessary!

Our founder, Kareen Aristide, had been a stay at home mom for the past 5 years. She loved her profession in the employment counselling field and when the Lord started to bless her and her husband with children, it was hard to get back to work because she basically started to have kids back to back. In 2002, she first started to explore homebased business opportuinities and got involved in several network marketing businesses and became very successful at some of them, notably Mary Kay Cosmetics (she absolutely loves this company!). She also registered her first company in 2005 and did contract work for various companies from home.

She came across many moms who asked for advice about what to do to make it happen. She started giving some concrete ideas and resources on doing business and for finding or creating a job that would allow them to work from home. She soon realized that there was a definite need out there. With her professional background and home-based business experience, she knew that she could truly help moms realize their dreams by offering them career and entrepreneurial services that would allow them to effectively and creatively balance work and family life.

So she started by creating a work from home group where moms who had existing businesses could get together and share expertise and social time. She also started researching what was out there in work from home jobs. She realized that there was a movement out there with moms getting out of the 9-5 schedule and in business for themselves. That is when she came across the term "MOMPRENEUR" for the first time. She found many websites that offered business advice and resources to mom entrepreneurs. There were also websites that advertised work from home opportunities. Since many of those were scams, she realized that there was a need to create real, legitimate work from home jobs.

To test her ideas, she conducted two focus groups (one in Montreal and one in Ottawa) that yielded great results. The women that participated in these workshops were really excited about her concept. And so began the conception. And after months of aches and growing pains and lots of contractions, blood, sweat and tears, she finally gave birth to her 6th and FINAL baby (yes you read right people FINAL!)...introducing...MOMPOWERED INC!
